I was delighted to be asked by the Tamworth District and Civic Society (TDCS) if I would like to join them in the Town Hall and display my Tamworth in Sepia photos as part of Tamworth’s Heritage Open Day.

I was really excited about displaying my photos and both Mum and Dad thought it would be a great idea if I was happy doing it.  We did not have any display boards though so Dad dug out two large white wooden boards from the garage, chopped them in half, painted then and put hinges on them and we had two big free standing display boards.

We then had all the sepia photos printed that were featured in my Tamworth in Sepia video and stuck them on the boards, we also had an additional 50 various photos printed that were postcard size and could be given away.

When we got to the town hall, we had a big curved table by the door and we put up the boards and I laid out the free photos.  There were also a lot of other people there from the TDCS who also had various stands with information about Tamworth’s history.

When the Town Hall opened to the public quite a few people came in and a lot looked at my photos and I had so much fun talking to people about them.  People asked my lots of questions like where were some of the buildings as they did not recognise them, what sort of camera did I have and how did I make them look old (I Dad actually did that bit on his computer).

I also walked round and looked at the other stands talking to people and everyone there was so friendly.  The Chairman of the TDCS, David Biggs, also asked me if I would take photos for them of the day and of all the displays so I also had fun doing that.

I also got to meet the Mayor of Tamworth, Mr. Richard Kingstone and he said he really liked my photos.   There was also a man there dresses as King James 1st as 2019 makes the 400th anniversary of when James the first visited Tamworth in ???

I had so much fun displaying my photos and I hope that with the TDCS I get the opportunity to display them again sometime.
