For Christmas 2019, one of my presents was a little camera done called a Hasakee Q8. It had a little 720p camera built into it but when we used it on Christmas Day, the quality of it was absolutely terrible.  Worst still after recharging the battery and flying it again, the video and photos were now even more blurred and bright pink,  so it seemed there was an issue with the camera.  Dad sent the drone back and we got a refund for it.

The Hasakee drone only weighed 92 grams and so there was no problems with me flying it although we found out that any drones weighing more than 250 grams required a test to be taken with the Civil Aviation Authority.

Looking at all the drones it seemed that most with nice features and a higher HD 1080p camera were heavier than 250 grams and needed a licence, therefore Dad looked into it and on January ?? 2020, both Dad and myself took the flyer test and passed, so I can now fly drones up to 20Kg in weight for the next 3 years until I need to retale the test again.  Where as I am licensed as a “Flyer”, Dad also had to pay for an “Operator” licence to own the drone and his Operator ID has to be stuck on the drone itself.  This is so it can be traced back to him if it ever flies ofF.

Hopefully this will never happen as we now have a Simrex X11 GPS drone which can do lots of clever things which included flying back to the spot it took off from if it ever loses contact with the remote control or of its battery starts to run low.

This now means that in addition to my land based photography, I can also venture into the skies and take photographs from there as well.  One thing we really like about the Simrex drone is that the camera is fixed to a gimbal and so no matter what angle the drone is at, the camera is always straight.
